A FG Lab coalition remains the bookies favourite at 4/9 to take control after the next election

Paddy Power

Bookies Paddy Power today shaved the odds on a FF/Lab coalition forming the next Government from 9/2 to 4/1 on the back of the latest MRBI poll which showed support for Fianna Fail had risen by 2% and satisfaction with Taoiseach Brian Cowen up by 3%.

A FG/Lab coalition remains the bookies favourite at 4/9 to take control after the next election while a FG minority Government is 10/1.

The most interesting odds with Paddy Power however are the 5/1 on offer that the Irish Labour Party could get more first preference votes than Fianna Fail in the next election.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said:

The increase in support for Fianna Fail might be small but it’s positive nonetheless and while FG and Labour look to be sitting pretty there’s a long way to go until the next election.

Meanwhile Paddy Power make Enda Kenny their 4/7 favourite to be the next Taoiseach while Brian Cowen has moved in a point to 3/1 from 10/3 and Brian Lenihan’s odds on taking the reins have also been sliced to 8/1 from 14/1.

A slight increase in support for the Government has also seen the odds on an election taking place this year drift out to 11/4 from 7/4.
